Noela Mary Sullivan Sullivan was the first child of John Henry Sullivan and his wife Vera May (nee Mellerick) and was born in Gosford in February 1947. Her younger siblings were brothers Rodney John Sullivan, Neale David Sullivan and Michael Anthony Sullivan, all born in Gosford
Noela attended infants school at Gosford, primary and high schools in Newcastle, and went on to Teachers College in Newcastle. She subsequently taught at Bundarra Central and Singleton High. In 1969 aged 22 she married Paris-born Andre-Marc Renaud and they moved to Bulga near Singleton where they both worked as high school teachers. The Renaud's had two children:
- Elianne Marie Renaud born in November 1980 in Newcastle;
- Louis John Renaud born in August 1983 in Singleton
Over the years the family moved about the NSW Central Coast from flats in Singleton to homes and farms in Lower Belford, Bulga and Singleton. Eventually after the diagnosis of Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia the Renaud's moved to a small, comfortable residence in Hillsborough, Newcastle where her husband Andre is now her carer. Their children both work in Newcastle and have their homes nearby.
