Olive moved back to live with her parents, by then in Gosford. There she met Harold Norris, who had served alongside her brother Bert in the Australian Army during the Second World War, thereby gaining his introduction to the Sullivan family. Olive and Harold married in Gosford in 1948.

Olive and Harry lived in Gosford for a time after their marriage. Harry worked for his brother-in-law Harold Hextall in the Hextall family furniture store. When Harold died in 1951, Olive and Harry left Gosford and went back to the Tullibigeal area near Lake Cargelligo where Harry and his family bought land. There they farmed wheat and sheep for many years until Harry's death from cancer in 2005. They had no children of their own but fostered two boys:Garry and Russel Worth.

Olive also suffered from Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia, requiring her to move to Codoblin to be closer to medical facilities in the 1990s. Later she went to live in a nursing home in Condoblin, where she died in 2011. She died on the same day as her sister-in-law in the same nursing home, and their funerals were one day apart.
