G5     TS/JS/CS/ ELSIE CATHERINE SALTER (1909 - 1989) 

Elsie Catherine Salter was the first child and daughter born to Francis James Salter and wife Clarice (nee Sullivan). Elsie was born in Dunbulbalane in 1909 (V26767), 

Very little is known of her early childhood in both Victoria and Queensland to where the family had moved.

In 1936 Elsie Catherine Salter was on the electoral roll at Undulla, Queensland, aged about 27.

Elsie married Scottish born James Burleigh in 1940. During the depression he worked at Undulla as a stockman labourer. Family history has Jim meeting Elsie at an outback dance. Jim later worked as a storeman and packer1940JoyBurleigh

They had two children, Joy ? Burleigh and a younger brother Rodney Howard Burleigh.

Elsie worked as housekeeper or maid at various homes including a judge, and also sewed dresses in neighbouring homes.  

Jim died in 1978, and widow  Elsie Catherine Burleigh died in Tara in 1989
